✦ — info

  • Hello! You can call me Úna, I'm 26, any pronouns. I've been rping through various means for around 15 years and still think I'm kind of bad at it, but it's fun and I want to get better, so here I am.

  • Fully welcome to walkups and whispers when my rp tag is on, and open to being whispered for plotting any time!

  • I'm willing to share my discord with anyone wanting to plot/discuss further, and happy to sync with recurring rp partners for the fun of it.

  • I do not rp with minors (ideally, nobody under 21), bigots, characters based in transgender or racial fetishization, or anyone who uses rp as a means to hurt or control others.

  • I'm fine with rping briefly with child characters and Lalafell, but i'm not interested in longer-term plotting with them, and absolutely not willing to see them involved in anything sexual.

  • I love both romantic and hostile relationships in rp, but please no bleed! Our characters loving or hating each other should not impact our relationship as real people.

  • I enjoy both casual, lighthearted rp and more serious, darker in tone stuff. I don't favor combat and I'm not actively seeking romance or ERP, but it's not ruled out.

  • None of my characters are WOLs. I'm not opposed to rping with WOLs , but I'm not interested in involving WOL-specific MSQ plot in rp. Also not interested in NPCs.

  • As long as we're staying fairly reasonable, I'm 100% down with lore-bending and homebrewing, and regularly do it myself.

  • I'm completely willing to play along, but I almost never use job stone lore, and often outright ignore it. I know that's a somewhat major thing, so it seemed wise to say it ahead of time.

  • While certain characters of mine may not ICly respond well to more niche characters such as voidsent, etc, OOC I am entirely cool with those.

  • Mei as a character deals with themes of horror and misogyny. I don't plan on bringing that up at random, but it's good to be warned.

✦ — shallows

 Name  Yuan Mei
 Species  Au Ra | Raen
 Ethnicity  Yanxian
  Height   4'10
Physique  Curvaceous - a layer of protective fat over well-trained strength.
 Eyes  Pale blue, glowing opalescent.
Hair  Blue-black, long & wavy, mostly left loose. Cuts her own bangs.
 Age  Late twenties
Gender  Agender Femme | Any pronouns
 Orientation  Lesbian
 Relationship  Complicated
Origin  Haiyin | The Glass Ocean
 Occupation  Medium, Exorcist
Notable features  Scales are fine and soft, closer to a seal's skin than a lizard's, and tinted black at the edges. Tail is long, thin, and agile.
Fashion  Favors Doman styles, but fond of pieces from other regions. Lean towards cool and dark colors, usually silver metal accents. Romantic and sweeping, not often in tight fits.

✦ — depths

Positive Traits  Well-mannered and charming. Devoted and disciplined. Graceful and elegant in all she does.
Negative Traits  Cold and reticent. Stubborn and strict. Enormous and fragile ego.
Loves  Flowers, both as material and expression. Music & dancing. Fruit & meats.
Loathes  Warm, dry weather. Blunted weapons. Necromancers & the dead disrupted.
Aether  Immense, heavily leant towards ice, water, and shadow - an abyss unto itself.
Magic  Powerful in umbral magic. Prone to preservative and protective over destructive - she aims for peace. Aether-draining as sedative.
Combat  Favors magic, but skilled with swords - one or two straight swords, or one greatsword. Style pulls heavily from her background as a ritual dancer, and training she received in a style used by monks.
Less-notable features  Her nails are claw-like and tinted black. Canines are sharp and capable of producing a paralytic venom, and her flesh, like many Raen, is cooler in tone than a Hyur's.

✦ — persona

Mei is a cold, unforgiving woman - though she presents herself as finely mannered, she has little patience and less whimsy. Born in a village in the depths of the Glass Ocean, she has been trained strictly by her grandfather since a young age to fulfill many roles - healer, bringer of peace, exorcist, medium, and inevitably, a bride. Although she thrived at her training and was beloved by her people, her wedded fate was ruined when a visiting Auri woman deceived her grandfather and abandoned her at the altar.Seeking revenge for her wounded ego and ruined bridehood both, she left her village, and the sea itself, to hunt that woman. Though much of her life has been defined by violence and cruelty in the name of a higher power, she is fundamentally a tender, romantic soul, and thrives in periods where her life allows her peace and companionship. She will eagerly pick up her sword in defense of what she holds dear - but better this, than the vicious hunts she is prone to devoting endless time and energy to.

✦ — hooks

  • the murderous innocence of the sea

Much of what Mei's training concerned, and what she commits herself to now, is the exorcism and banishment of evil spirits. Those in the realm of voidsent, ashkin, or otherwise supernatural may find themselves at the end of her sword - though she's prone to let them go, should they prove no threat.* this one will almost certainly involve combat, so I would prefer to be dmed beforehand if you want to utilize this hook.

  • our lady of mercy

It is Mei's duty, before anything else, to bring peace to the people - to this end, she will always aid those in need. Unfortunately, despite her technical strength in the magic, her healing comes with a discomfiting, frozen feeling, understandable to avoid.

"But love is impossible and it goes on despite the impossible. You’re the muscle I cut from the bone and still the bone remembers, still it wants (so much, it wants) the flesh back, the real thing, if only to rail against it"
— Ada Limón

"You smiled, stood up, and came out into the sunshine. Perhaps it was the light on your face, but I thought I recognized you from somewhere a long way down, somewhere at the bottom of the sea. Somewhere in me. Sometimes the light is strong enough to reach to the bottom of the sea."
— Jeanette Winterson

  • ylva stavros | friendly

"Red is a thing I can trust — a monster and her wings, cattle grazing the sandstone hills like flames."
— Natalie Diaz

"The madness of death is not eased at so slight a cost; though the gleam in your eyes is subdued it demands other fires"
— Eugenio Montale

"This haunting is a bad dream. It is real only like your reflection on the water’s surface is real. It is real only when you can see your shadow. It is real in that, when it comes for you, you don’t feel alone."
— Joan Tierney

  • yuan yuexun | mother

"This haunting is anatomical. It is not about you: it is inside you. Everything’s made up of other organisms that you can’t see, living and dying hand in hand, blood in mouth, flesh in stomach. Somewhere within you, something has built a home."
— Joan Tierney

  • yuan zhisheng | grandfather

"This haunting is architectural. It is not about you. It is about where you are. There are bones in the foundation. This house is a graveyard. This house is a corpse."
— Joan Tierney
